So due to most of my friends living in USA I have 2 accounts on my Switch, a USA one and an European one. I play Splatoon 2 using the USA account, but I couldn't play with my friend in it for some weird reason.
Today I went into the game to see the Splatfest results as the USA one has ended already and... it's still Splatfest. Meaning, that instead of using your ACCOUNT'S region, it is using the GAME'S region. So if you bought a physical copy in your local store (like I did) you can only play in your own region's Splatfests. I'd assume same would be true for eShop copy, if you got a game from one region, you can only play in that region's Splatfest as well.

Splatfests were always region locked since the first game on the wii u :P The splatfest choices arent always 1 to 1 all around the world, for example the first splatoon 2 splatfest was cake vs ice cream in the US and EU, but was rock vs pop in japan. There were also a some region exclusive choices for splatfest in the first splatoon like the japan exclusive milk tea vs lemon tea, and american exclusive ones like Autobots vs decepticons and EU exclusive ones like get fit vs get rich etc etc. There were however some splatfests where players of different regions did get matched up(European and American players got matched up for the Spongebob vs Patrick and callie vs marie splatfests, Also the Fancy Party vs Costume Party was the first unified splatfest where players from all three regions share stages, matchmaking, and results). But yeah often times each region plays sepearately, tallies up their results individually and often has different choices for splatfests, this has been the case for the first splatoon as well

Oh, I know all that and it doesn't surprise me there is region separation.
I meant that the separation is based on the game itself and not the account as was thought originally. Like, many people were sure you could even get into Japanese Splatfests if you used a Japanese Nintendo Account on the console, but seems it doesn't work this way.

This might be why each region has a different game ID. If Nintendo decides to do localized Splatfests like they did with the first game (the US and PAL regions had Spongebob vs. Patrick, while Japan had one about 7-Eleven onigiri), this would allow them to do just that.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
