Hacking Softmodded but still no gaming ???

Hiya, as the idiot i am, after updating my sons Wii even though i softmodded at xmas with bannerbomb, ive finally managed to softmod again, with help from this forum and tutorials...
Only problem i have now is that i cannot get it to recognise the hard drive with games on, which previously booted with coverflow, keep gettin Error no usb connection...any ideas....

As well as messin up mod and eventually sortin, one of the usb ports has packed up........

It's not that the port is bad, the cIOS only uses port 0 for games. Port 1 is for usb 1.1 devices like usb instruments and the like.
