Hacking sd card > wiiu > apps: all of my folders are gone

I have no clue what happened. It first showed "failed to load payload.elf" when I inserted the SD card (which I checked, and payload.elf is in the card), but when I went to see if my apps were still there, they had all just vanished from the file. Is there a way I can recover the files I had, or am I screwed?

That's why you should keep a copy of your SD card files on your computer.
Personally I'd go back through all of the apps I could remember and try to get them all back on there. The wii u cfw guide also has a lot of apps listed you can install, so check and see if any of those were on your console.
