Hey guys I am a dumbass. I updated my 3ds emunand to 10.5 after also updating reinand. I can't access emunand anymore and I think I know the issue. I read in a tutorial that the reason it could not be booting was because of an outdated menuhax. (Im a loser and didn't create a back up first ;_; So my question is, is there a way to access the emunand on my sd card and remove the payload? I know it is in a hidden partition but I have no idea how to access it. Pls be kind to a dum dum like myself. Thanks in advance!

if is the menuhax, probably you have nands linked, change theme in sysnand and solved.

Else, if nand is unlinked and you installed menuhax in emunand, you can delete theme info from SD, and it should work again

idk where is stored theme information, you can know it by backuping all your Nintendo 3ds folder (Only emunand part) and erasing it from SD. Emunand should work now (but without installed games, obviously), then, you can put a theme and see what is the name of generated folder, then restore backup and erase that folder

Also, this is only if you have installed menuhax in emunand

from https://github.com/yellows8/3ds_homemenu_extdatatool

"Backing up extdata before modifying it at all is recommended: you can copy the data from "sdmc:/Nintendo 3DS/{ID0}/{ID1}/extdata/00000000/{extdataIDlow}/" to elsewhere, where extdataIDlow is the extdataIDs for home-menu extdata and theme extdata: http://3dbrew.org/wiki/Extdata"

not really, please, try to erase your emunand folder in Nintendo 3DS (you should have 2, the Sysnand and Emunand) and try to enter emunand

You can now it by Folder Size, Emunand should have more games installed, and should be more heavier

If one is "Private" don't worry, if you have 3 folder... You may have created them by formatting 3DS, backup and erase the heaviest one
I know that but I have 3 + private. They are jumbled mess of text. One is incredibly small (I assume sys nand) other is 3 gig other is 7 gigs. I will try backing up the 7 and see what that is. (I installed rxtools for a little bit maybe thats what that is)

There's EmuNAND folder inside your Nintendo 3DS/ folder
find it
then delete folder 000002ce inside of Nintendo 3DS/symbols/symbols/extdata/00000000 that belongs to EmuNAND
this should delete theme data from EmuNAND

EDIT: look for 000002cc instead (thanks Ante0)

Look for the folder: (it's where your Home Menu theme data is stored)
JPN console
000002cc
USA console
000002cd
EUR console
000002ce

They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware

so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip

They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

nintendo needs to up their game soon

considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges
