Sattelite like an antenna

Alright, I'm at a hotel right now and I flipped through the channels on tv and noticed that one of them said
"Congratulations you have a Dish 500!"
Then later I saw commercials for Dish Network PPV.
So apparently they have a receiver set up for the whole hotel.
But there isn't an on screen guide and its not ran with a dish remote.
I guess it's ran like antenna or cable.
How do I do this?

I've seen this at a few of my friends motel. I was wondering how they work too. It's quite a complex setup... U have to read up on it and it's not cheap to do. There is a lot of way to do this. I don't even know how to explane it. Each unit decodes a few channels. So all channels are decoded all the time. And another unit is like a switch (when u change channels on the tv it knows like cable and connects u to the right decoded box.)


Another friends motel has hidden recievers with Ir sensors wired to the rooms.
It's also 3 am where I am. I'm really tired and I'm on a mobile device so I may not make sense. I'll edit this later though but donno if I cAn expand it any better later.
