Hello :)

I would have liked to know if there is any news on the support for the N64 via retroach? There was some good news a while back on this that the dynarec was on the right track but since then no news... it would be nice if the N64 was available on the Wii U. That would make it the console Ultimate Nintendo Emulator (Excluding 3DS & Switch)
Or using wii64/not64 with gamcube and wii throught wiiflow, three in one. I was well surprised that Conker's bad fur day run quite well with wii64

I'm using Switch Pro Controller to use RA fine with Bloopair,
Setup your Pro Controller as player 2, in settings/input, once thats done back out to the main menu and save configuration.
Quit out of Retroarch, and turn off your WiiU Gamepad .
(I have to take the WiiU Gamepad out of range of the console, then turn off the WiiU Gamepad.)
Then open RA and you should be able to use your Pro Controller :)
Is this work-around still necessary?

I'm using the 2022-10-17 nightly and just setting input 1 to the Pro Controller does not work normally. It seems Input 1 can only work as the Wii U gamepad.

While I could theoretically do this, it's a bit annoying.

Once you've set up you Bloopaired controller up once, as long as you WiiU Gamepad is off the Bloopair controller will be seen as Player 1 when you boot Retroarch.

It’s been a while since I’ve updated and I have a few questions on some features.

- Did they fix the issue with the app not recognizing Wii U Pro controllers?

- Any good SNES cores that can do widescreen or HD Mode 7 fixes running nicely on this yet?

Any info is appreciated. 😊

Hope the following makes sense to someone as I can't figure this out!

I have playlists that use roms from a MAME - 2003 rom folder. These playlists show thumbnails and boxart.

I scanned/created a MAME - 2003 playlist in Retroarch.... Games all show and boot fine although I cannot for the life of me figure out why thumbs and box art will not show.

Have tried renaming the pngs to match the roms in the respective MAME - 2003 folders (named_boxart and named_snaps) have tried copying other ipl set ups with some roms that are a match but still no thumbs! What is missing here?

I made a C64 and Amiga playlist no probs and boxes and snaps show fine there so can anyone shed any light on this??

Should also mention the previous playlists were not created by me and i have no idea where to find the dat file asked for during the scan or if the romsets used are merged, split or whatever but they are the same roms used by the other playlists and boxes are showing there! Please help!!

Mame Thumbnail folder needs to be called MAME, not MAME - 2003. :)
The MAME 2003 Plus "dat file" is found here its the xml file, though chances are the wiiu manual playlist scan will say file too big or something when you try to load it in, you can do it in PC RA then rename paths :)
It's also possible to make a xml file of your roms from within MAME 2003 Plus.

Once again, you are THE man @ploggy !!! Renaming the thumb folder is all it took!! Honestly.....I've gotten more bald with this and I'm already bald!!! Thanks man, looking all good now! :toot::grog::yayu:

Another little annoyance is my content downloader is empty and I can't seem to update core info files or anything, get task failed error but the urls and paths are correct as far as I can see. I have updated the databases manually as with the cores but meh... not overly fussed!

Have you tried since you updated your cores? there was a bug a week or so ago that messed up online updater. Make 100% sure all your cores are up to date then try the content downloader again, if still not working turn off your wiiu and unplug the power cable for 5 mins then try again.. I had this issue the other day and had to unplug the console for 5 mins before it would work again.

Unless you have a recent nightly update that may have been oversight, you'll probably have to switch them on in the settings. I saw the option for mine was off but i just left it that way so haven't tried.
I'm using the stable release (1.12.0), the option is there but enabling it didn't make any difference. I also tried to create a new retroarch.cfg just to make sure, same result.

Weird. I was going to also suggest to make sure they are set to 'show' in the menu as it can be hidden from view. Bloody options everywhere in this thing! Maybe try moving the paths manually and pointing the directory at them. Ie if set to default paths try actually selecting the path, this worked for me with the assets when they didn't show at first.

When using overlays, is it possible to have the correct matching overlay load with the game rather than having to manually add it after load? Quite tiresome with a long list of games lol

Edit... Nevermind, i got it!

"I've tried a few times to get the core to run but it always froze, I think there's an issue open about it on github tho :)"
Finally....I have been Spoken about this for Months, but no one was repliying to this!!! So it's not me, there is Indeed problem with cannonball outrun since Tiramisu, even with latest retroarch!! Thanks ploggy for confirmation!!
Also, to me, the Vectrex emu core in Retroarch is bad, it should be the "vectrexy" CORE used!! (source available) and the Amstrad core is BAD....It shouldn't be caprice or the other, it should be "cpcec" Core used!!!! WTF for the choice of cores in retroarch as core emulators I sometime think!!

I've tried a few times to get the core to run but it always froze, I think there's an issue open about it on github tho :)

edit: this post was previously me erroneously stating that I had figured out how to fix the core by manually downloading cannonball.zip and creating the directory by hand. What I didn't realize is that it still crashes after the initial menu!! So that sucks.

For me with outrun cannonball, I can play around a minute Maximum then it freezes, it does that on my multiple WiiU since update 5.5.5 and Tiramisu.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
