The N3DS seems to have some kind of light sensor, but that's just to adjust the screen's auto-brightness. Not sure if something like that's accessible to homebrew software.
Yeah, I don't have a n3ds so I didnt know that :)

Did you try the settings recommended in the OP?

what settings? vsync and audio sync? those dont help.

so far:
(PCSX: .cia, n3ds, 9.5 emunand, Retroarch 2016 Jan4)
Final Fantasy Tactics: 20fps with sound skipping (unplayable)
Xenogears: 35fps with sound skipping (somewhat playable, but with sound off)
Vagrant Story: 23fps with sound skipping (unplayable)
Star Ocean The Second Story: 50 fps with sound crackling (playable)
Suikoden 2: 50 fps with occasional spike down to 35 fps, sound is ok (playable)
this is based on the first 15min of gameplay.
...maybe somebody will find this useful to later compare with future pcsx builds.

hey guys how are your speed on the psx emulator?
I have 60-50 fps on digimon world 1 and it's awesome, but on megaman x4 I got like 30 fps on gameplay any idea why?
New3ds gateway emunand .cia build.

Oh god, how could understand them making WarioWare Twisted work w/ the gyrosensor, but the 3DS doesn't have a light sensor. Maybe there's an edited ROM that gets rid of the light sensor?
Try the MGBA player instead of the Gpsp. The MGBA has a setting just for Boktai that allows you to set the sun sensor to whatever you want. But be ready for the game to run at about 30-40 frames

Hey guys, been following up on Retroarch, mainly to get the GBA emu going.. I've dumped the DSP file using the homebrew app, but I've got no clue what to do next. Any help?

Using O3DS, Sysnand 9.2 Emunand 10.3, Installing pcsx rearmed as a cia, it crashes upon load. The libRetro logo appears when I hover over it on the home menu, opening it works fine except it kicks me to the home menu (Not "An error occured, please turn the system off") and reboots my 3ds back to sysnand. What's do I do to fix it?

you can get near full speed with cia version on new 3DS
Tried all possible settings, of course the here mentioned ones too. I can't even get near 20 FPS on my New 3DS (installed CIA, EmuNAND, 9.2) for some reason.
I'm trying Croc - Legend of the Gobbos with the right BIOS files and even the intro videos are only playing with less than 16 FPS.

I do understand that the 3DS isn't capable enough to run PS X games "amazingly awesome and well" of course due to its limited resources but why should it be stated here in the tutorial when no one ever got it running like that? So obviously someone did ;)

From what I understand the DSP dumper will put it wherever it needs to go. And I've also heard from others that it goes as such:
SD:/3ds/(DSP file)

So just right into the 3Ds folder where homebrew goes.

Try just straight up disabling sound. If you can live without any sound for the game then you can sacrifice sound for a better FPS.

Looks like it shows up now, good..

but alas, an error. "Failed to load audio driver, starting without Audio.." then Crash/Reboot.

RX9.2E, using the CIA install, latest nightly.

Did I not save the settings right or something?
no idea, I've not used dsp with the .cia builds so...

Same error without it, so..

I just want to get some Fullspeed GBA emu on this thing. any alternatives, or is gPSP just the best for that?
assuming Old3DS? I know that gpSP is better when it comes to speed sometimes.

you might be able to look into the ambassador games and AGB_FIRM patching or whatever.
