Hacking R4i not booting DS Lite

Ok, so I got an R4i flash card from [censored] which lists the website to get the needed firmware as r4i.cn so I went and got the firmware extracted it onto the microSD card and put it in the DS and when booting it just loads the main DS screen which says there is no card inserted. I don't know what all information you might need but let me know and I'll get it for you. Just really stuck here and would like to get this working for my son.

Have you tried the paper trick?

How to do paper trick:

1. Look at the contacts of your R4i
2. Grab a small slip of folded paper.
3. Attempt to slide the small slip of folded paper under the contacts, between the underside of the contacts and the flash card shell.
4. I'd leave a little bit hanging out (just enough to pull the paper out, but not enough to hinder the usability of the flash card) just in case it doesn't work and/or you need to adjust the paper.

Tried that and got the same results which is nada... I hope I don't have to send this thing back... I had to wait 3+ weeks to get the thing in the first place. :/

Well, if it's not booting at all even after the paper trick, then it's broken. You'll have to get another one.

In fact, skip getting an R4i altogether next time. Just get an Acekard or a Cyclo DS.

Tell us everything about the card. Everything on the sticker. Has the card worked at all in the past? Does it work on other DS systems? Has other cards worked in your DS before?

Black sticker with silver writing.
I just got the card yesterday so no it hasn't worked in the past and I don't have another DS to try it on. And it's the first card I've gotten so I've not tried any others.

Try it in other DS's, sure your friend or someone has one. If it doesn't work. Card sucks. Try other cards in your DS as well. Doesn't hurt to have a backup card just in case. Especially when one of your cards is an R4...

But even if we can't help...don't get a CycloDS.. not at this point anyways.

If it's a DS lite that's needing a card.. Get the R4 "original" for 6 bucks at shoptemp. And load it with Wood.
