Hacking R4i-Gold on DSi 1.4.5 and 3DS 4.5?

I just got an R4i-Gold which looks like this:

I downloaded the 1.69b (newest?) from r4i-gold.eu and put them on the freshly formatted micro sd card. But I can't get it work on my v1.4.5 DSi XL or v4.5 3DS XL. Is there a way to make it work on either?
