So I'm getting a wii usb drive for loading backups with usbloader.
I will probablly be getiing the Western Digital Elements 320GB Portable USB 2.0 Hard Drive.
But I have some questions about that drive and usb drives in general first.
First if all I've heard some drives don't turn off via wii remote. Is there any way to know if this drive will have that issue. (Holding the power button for 5 secs turns it off so I don't mind too much.)
Are drives usually noisy when loading? Recently I was playing a disc backup of fatal frame and the noise and lag was rather off-putting.
Speaking of loading, will a usb loader give faster loading?
what are partitions and what is the difference between WBFS and Fat32?
Finally will I be able to dump my retail discs straight onto the drive and have them ready for play?

Sorry about all the questions, just curious.

USB-powered drives will turn off with the Wii. Drives aren't usually noisy, unless they're old drives. USB Loaders WILL give faster loading times. Search for hard drive partitions. Fat32 is a Windows format, and WBFS was created specifically for Wii games. You will be able to dump retail discs
