Not sure if this is the right section btw
Uuhhhh what do you mean?
The main font that the switch menus use
I think he means what the Switch OS uses to display text.
I don't think they ripped it but why would they rip the font?
I was more wondering if it was a already known font that I could just download.
No I don't think so

And anyway the switch font if it was ripped would be copyrighted material and I could not post it here anyway
Ok thanks for answering
Use https://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ or https://www.whatfontis.com/ to get a close approximation of the switch font.
Ok thanks I'll try that. I'm not at home rn so I'll try later
that's to say they used a custom font, they could have just used an existing font
Was trying to say existing font
The exact font is A-OTF UD Shin Go NT, it's a custom font not publicly available however the .ttf file can be found in the SDK (hint, hint).
Probably less dubious to just use a similar free font instead as to not have Nintendo's lawyers not potentially breathing down your throat over it.
would be scary but still silly, ninty sues kid over using there font XD
Scary, but they probably won't do that. Hopefully.
Nintendo Life and Digital Foundry use the 3DS system font all the time without litigation.
Thanks. Will look for it tomorrow!
People are FAAAAAAR to scared of being sued.
Step one, never use your real name and/or identity online.
Step two, don't post all over the internet that you used a ripped Nintendo-copyrighted font in your work/project.
Step three, cops are not going to beat down your door and arrest you for such a stupid crime like copyright violation. They have bigger fish to fry, like druglords and pedophiles.
step one, don't use the dam font in the first place, it's not that hard to find a similar one
I ripped the LockClock.ttf out of my jailbroken iPod Touch back in 2009, and used it for many things. No harm came of it. So many copyright laws need re-written for fair use.
