Hardware PS1/2 PS2 Fat Disc Drive not spinning properly

My fat PS2's drive doesn't work. It only does a quite rotate but doesn't spin and stops. It does the same thing whether there is a disc or not and I don't know what's wrong.

There's supposed to be a lid for the disc drive where the magnet is located. It needs to be placed on-top for the drive motor to spin the disc freely.

It wasnt working with it as well. Same thing. Now the drive is stuck and won't close

Replace the drive belt and add some fresh grease to the gears. Its also suggested to replace the laser if it doesn't read discs.

eBay sells a pack of replacement belts for 4 bucks. Laser you could try and revive using PMAP otherwise find a spare drive to replace it with.
