So, I lost my SD card. I got a WD Elements Portable (BUZGxxxxBBK, if it matters). Got an y-cable, set up everything, and...
"Exception (DSI) occurred"
Alright, it goes like this:
1. I boot up the vWii like usual.
2. I boot up HBC, then hit 1 on the wiimote, USB drive and it just gives that error. I couldn't even start an app.

I don't know what can be the case here. I plugged the cables in correct slots, the drive seems to be working fine. My apps are Riivolution, CFG USB Loader (along with some backups, of course) and YAWMM.

Does it ask to format as soon as Wii U comes on? If not, it doesn't see your hdd.
It does. When I open the HBC, it's a blank screen (bubbles floating), and I have to manually switch to the USB device. When I do though, this error pops up.

Alright, seems like my friend got the same drive. Aaaand... it's working fine. He did everything just like me... I don't know. Maybe I'm plugging the y-cable in the wrong ports? I'm pretty sure I should connect them to the rear ones. Or maybe it's the drive format? It's NTFS.
Also, when I'm selecting a SD Card from the device menu (4GB MiniSD with an adapter), the same thing happens. Instantly after selecting it, "Exception (DSI) Occured!"...

I think its more of a problem with the actual hack than your HDD.
I get the same error when trying to run Wiiflow, i don't know why.
I use a 1 TB seagate EXT, and it shows up on the wii u side.

I havent found a fix yet, i asked before on here but no one answered.
If you find a fix or anyone else, please let me/us know.

Thanks.

Also, do you have to hard reboot ur system?
Whenever i get that error i have to unplug the system because the power button doesnt work.

I can't even run any apps - it just pops out the error. I have to hard reboot because the power button doesn't work, and it doesn't take me back to HBC or anything. I'll try FAT32, as Blade suggested. I hope it will work...

HBC won't load anything from USB for me either, but I think that's because it's NTFS formatted so changing to FAT32 as suggested may fix your problem. I run my apps from the SD card but you said that isn't working either, which is weird. What is your SD card formatted as? What IOS is HBC using? (press Home in HBC)
To me it just seems like a good idea to keep apps on the SD card and use USB exclusively for USB loading (and media/ROMs if you want) so I'm not bothered by being unable to run apps from USB, but that's just my opinion.

When you are finally able to run the USB loader, if you can't load any games, try switching around the 2 USB plugs, as the order is important. The plug on the very end of the cable is probably the one that provides power. That cable goes in the BOTTOM rear port on the Wii U, but the TOP rear port on the Wii (I'm pretty sure about this but I might remember wrong). The other plug is the data plug, and that goes in the TOP rear port on the Wii U, or the BOTTOM one on the regular Wii.

Alright, I got it. Reformatting it worked, and I knew which plug goes where. Both Wiiflow and CFG work nicely, no crashes or freezes yet.

@Psionic Roshambo, The Wii U gamepads are tied to the console's region, so its impossible to find a cheap gamepad that supports your model.

Unless you modify your system, of course, and remove the region check.

@Xdqwerty I like how the game had the middle ages 1000AD, the dark ages 600AD.It was great seeing the post robot apocalypse 2300 like Terminator and enter the matrix. some of mad max and fallout. 2300ad though it could had used more elements instead of just a generic ai uprising. It was a great idea for their judgement day to be 1999 Y2K.

-great additions if they would have made an expansion or dlc in my opinion would be finding out humans trapped in a matrix -

a follower having a cyborg character living tissue over metal endoskelleton like terminator, and the synths from fallout

4After Zeal fell it would have been good to see more ancient eras. Perhaps Sumeria based in one area, then Egypt based in another area, Greek based in another area, then roman based in another area before the middle ages.---------

----between 1000ad and 1999 is a big gap they should have had the age of revolution like the american and French Revolution

then the cowboyy era in one area of map and the Industrial revolution/age of enlightmentthen a ww1 and ww2 and a cold war era
