Both have good Sides and Features.

Gamecompatibility from Windows
Handling from Windows/Linux
Systemstability from all three.
(Windows 10/11 is not so bad.)

if I HAD to pick just one? It'd be Linux (I use Arch BTW ). Mac is a powerful OS, and the new M1 chips are phenomenal for workloads... but I don't do anything that would take advantage of the hardware, and I don't have any workloads that would require Mac.

I wish you added some Vintage Operating Systems so I could have said OpenSTEP or hell even BeOS (but I guess Haiku Exists so there's that as well!)

Don't forget that MacOS is basically a patchwork UI built on top of Unix.

Hm interesting one, the way things are going (Steam Deck etc), Linux is likely to be the better choice for games, but MacOS is better for a lot of productivity software still afaik. Linux is king for a lot of open-source/hobby type software, tho a decent proportion of it can be built on MacOS. I'd be interested in one of the new Macs with the beefy Apple CPU, I know it's supposed to be strong enough to still run Intel code well, so let's go with that.

In reality for now I've got one of the last Intel Mac models, so it can run any of the mainstream OSes.

I feel fine with any of those operating systems, Windows is not a preference.
In any case I have a slight preference for MacOS, but Windows or Linux are also fine.
And if it is Linux I am more used to Debian.

Anyway I hate apple software, I hate apple hardware, I hate apple the company... to that end keep that awfulness away from me and anybody I like. Prefer not even to touch people tainted with it.

The only thing I think they might do is give me adobe software more easily but I much prefer the open source offerings anyway so nothing lost there, and a lot gained as everything mac land seems to want to be gated off and paid for (and bad when I do).

I currently use both Linux (Linux Mint right now,) and MasOS on my computers. I haven’t touched Windows since 2006 and typically replace Windows on any of my computers that come with it. I use MacOS for streaming, video editing, and schoolwork.

My Linux Distro of choice would have to be Mint, why? Because I'm not an expert on Linux yet and Mint is the one I'm the most familiar with, I like the Cinnamon environment far better then Ubuntu's take on the gnome environment, plus it feels like Windows.

My MacOS version of choice would have to be Yosemite-High Sierra for nostalgia, the newer hardware and other OS X looks nice but at best I'd only use it for emulation, and even then MacOS isn't really the best for that, you could get better hardware for cheaper at that point lol.

Yeah see that's the thing. While gaming on Linux still isn't "perfect as windows" per say, it's gotten a bit better then it was many years ago and I'd even say that it's to the point where it's a better platform then Mac.
