im trying to decide between these 2 horrible waste of space poor mans craplets:

http://www.amazon.co..._pr_product_top

and

http://www.ebuyer.co...blet-pc-astro-7

which of these would you give to the person you hate a little less than your worst enemy? im mainly going to be using them to help build a space ship and would also like it to power a small nuclear reactor

i have £10000 to spend but would like to save as much money as possible for neck ties, loose women and pineapples

thanks in advance for choosing "neither" "save up" and "wait until you have £10001"

when presented with a choice of either "drink your own piss" or "eat your own shit" I'd rather not choose at all
if you see what I mean

buy a bagful of candies

I'd go for the first one anyway

Shit with sprinkles on top still tastes like shit.

Save up a little more and get something better than either of those.

If you have to buy 1 of them get the second one.

Save your money and don't buy a craplet.

If you wait 6 months, 7" tablet prices will fall through the floor.

Tip: If you don't see a forum for the device on XDA-Developers, don't buy it.

EDIT: Sources tell me that the Kindle Fire is about to launch in the UK. Yes, it's out of your 80 price range, but it will cause two things to happen. The price of craplets in the UK will drop, AND you'll have access to refurbished Kindle Fires. A refurbished KF beats a brand-new craplet.

Why exactly are you hell-bent on throwing your money away right now?

EDIT: And how can you afford to buy both and then ship one back? If you have enough $$$ to buy both, why not buy a real tablet?

I'll suggest something unethical, but practical, assuming you aren't travelling longer than 30 days.

Amazon has the best return policy ever.

Buy the first one from Amazon. Pay for fast shipping to get your device before your trip.
Go on your trip. Don't lose or damage the tablet!
Get back home.
Return the tablet to Amazon.
Pocket your $80 and save up for a better tablet.

haha thats awesome! although one of the plus points of getting a cheap one is also so that i dont have to worry much about loosing/damaging it but i do like your style :)

Sorry you've had such a bashing, even from a forum Admin, in response to a totally reasonable question.

I have a Chinese knock-off Android tablet with much worse specs than this, android 2.3, and a resistive screen to boot - and it's absolutely fine for watching movies, browsing websites etc. You won't be playing the latest games, but then you probably won't have time to with your space-ship building project, anyway.

The tablets are much a much the same, get whichever one you fancy, and enjoy it. I think it might be time for me to think about an upgrade (though I'll probably be looking for a model with a resistive screen)...

thankyou!

there is A LOT of choice when it comes to tablets around this price. the main difference i can see are processor, ram and memory.

ARM Cortex A8 1.2GHz
1.2 GHz A10 Dual core CPU + 500MHz Graphics Co-Processor
All Winner A10 - 1.2GHz / GPU: Mali 400 MHz dedicated Graphics Processor

are the above all equally rubbish!?

will i see much difference between 512mb ram and 1gb ram?

does it matter if i end up with 4gb, 8gb or 16gb internal memory if im going to use a 32gb sd card?

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, i only have like 1 or 2 mb sec

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

Its actua!ly just a old joke, meaning its slow. Was just kidding around with you.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
