Yeah, there's definitely a lot of shite in those lists. A few nuggets, but a lot of shite. The main disappointment for me from Nintendo today, though, just has to do with what seems to be their attitude. It's status quo in "the next advantage" clothing.

I'm surprised people are so disappointed...I consider myself pretty picky with games (definitely a casual gamer), and all of these at least made me want to check them out:

Sid Meier’s Civilization® Revolution (July 8)
MLB Power Pros 2008 (Fall)
TRANSFORMERS Animated (Fall)
Monsters vs. Aliens™ Video Game (Fall)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance II: Fusion (Spring 2009)
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix (Q1)
SimCity™ Creator (Sept. 23)
Spore™ Creatures (Fall)
Skate It (Holiday)
Metal Slug 7 (Nov. 18)
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia (Fall)
Elebits: The Adventures of Kai & Zero (Fall)
Air Traffic Chaos (Aug. 11)
Moon (November)
Kirby Super Star™ Ultra (Sept. 22)
Rhythm Heaven™ (TBA)
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (Winter)
Ninjatown™ (Oct. 14)
Big Bang Mini© (Dec. 4)
Mister Slime (July 15)
Prince of Persia The Fallen King (Holiday)
Shaun White Snowboarding (Holiday)
Commando: Steel Disaster™ (Q3)

Also keep in mind I don't follow games too much and didn't know a lot of them, so I might be missing some.

Oh, and I have EXIT DS now, and it's one of my favorite DS games. It's amazing how an Xbox game with horrible controls becomes amazing with a workable control scheme.

Is Time Hollow the game with the kid that has like... a pen (stylus) that lets him go back in time or something like that? If not, what game is that?

Obviously Nintendo didn't say anything about their franchises, because they don't need to. As I've heard many times from someone whose opinion I respect, Parris from Uncle Gamer.

"Nintendo are just sitting on games at the moment. They don't need to bring anything else of quality out to assure sales, and this means they won't release any really good games until their consoles are in trouble. If Nintendo was in trouble, the DS selling less than the PSP or the Wii sales dropping, I guarantee we would see another Mario and Zelda game out, and maybe the announcement of Pikmin sometime soon."

I have to agree with everything that Parris says. Nintendo don't need to release games to drive their console, so they won't.

Next on my list of titles to wait for, would be Age of Empires Mythologies.

Oh I'm sure there are other good titles hidden in the list, and some might even turn out better.
But I only KNOW I want the Mythologies.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
