According to Andriasang, the Nintendo 3DS handheld gaming system has now sold five million units in Japan since its release on February 26 of last year. This marks a new sales record for Nintendo, making the 3DS the fastest selling console in the country.
Cribbing from Media Create, Andriasang reports that the sales numbers represent actual sales to customers. The 3DS hit the five million mark at 52 weeks, beating out the Nintendo DS' previous 56-week record and Gameboy Advance's 58 weeks, respectively.
