Wii modchips are a rarity now that softmods have taken over the market.

Only places you'll find them are on a listing site like Ebay or similar, or very sketchy (imo) websites like SHOP01MEDIA and similar.

The only Ebay listing (which may not ship to your country) for a Wii modchip: https://www.ebay.com/itm/363996255780
A couple of other Ebay listings are available for pre-modded Wiis with WODE installed, but they're $300+.

Since you have a D2B drive (with hopefully no cut legs), a DIY modchip can be made instead if one cannot be bought. They all work pretty much the same and are compatible only with D2B (without cut legs) and earlier drive models.

The WiiKey has already been reverse engineered meaning it is possible to produce your own clone. Attached are the PCB files, chip hex, and the tools to program the chip. I had these a while back that I got from some forum hosting them. Credit to whoever did this. :hrth:

That is a clone. I bought one from that seller and the PCB doesn't match up to the genuine ones that I have.

Arent clones not 1:1 functional like the originals and even can load the original firmware?
Fake WiiKeys claim to not work with the official update discs, although they function the same as a WiiKey.

Another Question: Do you think is a Wii Clip with a D2pro installed expensive in 2023? Would people buy it of from me? I can get one for 20 bucks

They are very hard to find, so I guess you'll get some off that.

afaik, it's either the wii or wiiu that doesn't have a check for the disc drive, so you can actually remove it or not care if it's broken.
The Wii U has the serial no of the blu-ray drive etched into some kind of ROM and therefor isn't (easily) replacable, possibly if the original drive board is transplated onto a new drive it would work as the serial no would still be the same but don't pin me on that.

The Wii however does not have anything like that, Wii does not check dvd-drive s/n or anything else allowing the drive to be swapped without any issues (as I've seen countless people do back in 2006)

There was rumours before about a Wii U modchip years ago, but it never turned up. Glad we have custom firmware though, modchips are kind of a waste. Like, imagine dumping tons of cash to buy blank Blu-rays, they're still very expensive but not like they used to.

Do you know which Modchip this is? Is it a D2Sun v2.01?

It's a D2Sun v3.0 chip.
