I have an acekard2i with a 8gb microsd running flawlessly on my dslite for about 1 year until now.
2 days ago I noticed it started to overheat while playing. I could feel the heat on my fingers on the back of the dsl.
I also notice the heat comes from the microsd, not the ak itself.
It gets really hot in a matter of minutes. I'm avoiding using it fearing damage to my dsl.
I formated the microsd with panasonic formater some weeks ago and it was working normally until now.
I also have a R4 original. It works without any problem.

Does it get hot while connected to your computer? That will tell you whether it's the AK or the SD that's faulty.

It does get hot when on usb adapter plugged to the computer.
It's always been like that AFAIK.

The weird fact is that it started to happen while inserted on ak2i after 1 year of use.

It's always been like that AFAIK.It shouldn't be like that.
AFAIK there are no moving parts in an SD card, aside from a lock switch on fullsize/MiniSD, so there should be no heat from moving parts. Any heat you feel is from current going some place it shouldn't or at too high a rate.
Your SDHC card is bad. If it's always been like that you should have returned it as soon as possible.
Where did you buy it? Chances are it's a fake MicroSDHC -- either counterfeits made to look like legit cards (usually sold loose or without packaging, sometimes out of a plastic case holding hundreds of them) or a 'ghost run' (workers make an unofficial run of the device after hours using rejected, inferior or otherwise bad parts at the factory and sell them as the real thing).

Most likely that means it's dying.

Try this (yes, I am dead serious):

Put the MicroSD in a full SD adapter, and put it in a USB SD reader.
Put the reader in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Take it out, and (quickly, very quickly) take the SD adapter and the MicroSD out and wipe them off with a paper towel and put them back in the reader.
Connect to computer, and, as quickly as possible, copy all your saves off (then roms and HB after, but the saves are more important IMO)

Worked on a MicroSD that had similar symptoms as yours.

Well I thought about something like that but didn't have enough courage.
But if you had success with it I'll give it a try.

Just make sure that there isn't too much humidity in your house at that time (preferably

I made the backup with another adapter without needing to use the refrigerator trick.
Now I need a new microsd card.
Thanks for the help.
