Reports are just in that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker demo has been released via PSN in Hong Kong. The demo is reported to indeed be working on 5.50 GEN-D3 and 5.03 GEN-C so thats all good. And its a decent demo too, four demo missions to play and has ad-hoc connectivity

Works on 5.50 GEN D3 and 5.03 GEN C ONLY

Patched ISO to work on M33/GEN

I've never played a MGS game in my entire life...
...
I tried it once, but I just couldn't get into it.

I can't blame you, I like them, but sometimes they are a hassle. "Oh no, some guy saw my foot, now I have to wait 2 minutes for the 18 guards he called to leave, or I can let them kill me and reload, losing another 3 minutes."

At the same time, when the game does work properly, it can be pretty fun.

Tried but do not work too.
I can't enable use version.txt too.
When I launch the demo it asks me cf 6.20.

Thanks for your reponse.

EDIT: I enabled version.txt use, but I have 80010013 error at launching now.

version.txt doesn't work for games anymore. Turn it off and switch drivers.

Works fine (patched of course) on 5.00 m33. (I used Eboot Exchange 2.6).

the tool "eboot exchange" is new to me, can it patch protected eboots ? like this one from psn ?
because all sites i found with it state, that it can patch the iso.
but mgspw is no iso, it's an eboot...
did you convert the eboot to iso with eboot2iso ? because i tried that with the japanese mgspw demo and it didn't work (couldn't be patched)

ps: i'm on 5.00m33-6 (obvious) and i don't want to update (the gen firmwares had to many bugs, like not playing my videos at all)

I always used: PSP Video Converter to convert my movies.
And they have worked under any GEN firmware so far.

As Dean said the GEN firmware is not that buggy.
Seeing the fact most games will not run on M33 updating will be a must sooner or later.

Sorry, I found and used an untouched iso (can't link to that obviously). As a Mac user I normally just find myself a prepatched iso, but in my impatience I used Eboot Exchange (for the first time) since it was confirmed to work. And it worked just fine.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
