Mario Kart 8 Deluxe not launching after installing the Octolings mod

I installed a mario kart 8 deluxe mod called Octolings, which replaces the inkling characters with the octoling characters. I copied the romfs folder to the game folder in the atmosphere contents folder, and then I put the sd card into the switch and turned it on. When I get to the home screen and launch mario kart, then it shows the loading screen and the car engine sounds, but then it freezes. And after a moment, it will say "The software closed because an error occurred". If I remove the mod, and launch mario kart with no mods or with some other mod, then it's perfectly fine. I don't know why this happens. This octoling mod works perfectly for other people, but just not me. How can I fix it?

Delete the romfs folder,then dump the game with nxdumper.Then (after you dumped the game)install the octolings mod.Hope this helps!
