Homebrew Just received R4i card ...and it already has this on it...

Dear all,

I have finally received my R4i card with the sole intention of using ZXDS on it.

I followed the website's instructions and placed all the files in the root directory of the micro SD card. However, when I placed the card in my DSi XL for the very first time and switched it on, the scrollable menu showed it as "Star Wars Lethal Alliance Ubisoft" - wtf?

Have they sent me a second-hand card?

How do I get ZXDS to run? When I select the R4i card in the scrollable menu, the top screen simply shows 'Menu?".

Where do I start?

It says Star Wars to get around the 1.4 flashcart block. You just click and run your emulator from there.

The Star Wars thing is perfectly normal. It's just a way of fooling the DSi into thinking you have a legitimate game cartridge.

Also, you'll need some firmware before it will be able to boot any programs.

It runs on a 1.4 DSi but you still need to put some files onto your SD card - think of it as an OS for your R4. The files can usually be found at the website provided on the box. Don't worry, it's a simple matter of dragging and dropping the files.

I have a rule about terms: "firmware is written to flashcart" and "kernel is written to SD(TF)".
Anyway "Menu?" message is a DSTT thing...

Yes, kernel is probably a better word but most people still refer to it as a 'firmware'.

You're looking for the latest English version for the 1.4 R4i.

But the zip is giving me a 'R4i V1.24b English' folder. Do I drag that to the route of my micro SD, or all its contents?

Unzip the files to the root of the Micro SD Card.
