after reading through the guides and great posts on here still cant get over my problem

i followed this guide below

i now have the external drive done, the homebrew kit and it goes to load in USB Loader GX, but my wii freezes on a black screen

any ideas or better ways to do this

i bought the wii at xmas as far as i no i havent updated any firmware

cheers do i need to add a channel (not that i no how to do it)

or just run through home brew

Using a channel is just so that you don't have to go through the Homebrew Channel. If you're still looking for a USB loader that works/you like, then find the .dol versions and load them through the Homebrew Channel. When you find one you like you should probably get a channel version of it.

download wad manager and

if you want to run usb loader gx through channel.
to install the wad, you needs to create a "wads" directory on the root of your sd card, then run wad manager through homebrew channel and install the forwarder.
this forwarder will point to the usbloader gx folder's boot.dol in the apps directory of your sd card

error custom ios 249 could not be loaded (-4100)

on my sd card i now have 3 folders in a apps folder

cios-boot.dol (based on 36-rev9)

Wad-USB Loader GX-ULNR-r516.wad

Wad Manager-boot dol

is the "wad" folder in the apps folder or in the root of you SD card?
it should be sd:/wad/USB Loader GX-ULNR-r516.wad
