Homebrew Help Restore Wii

Hi, my will will not play certain games unless I do a system update, when I attempt this I get error code 32004 which I searched and found that it refers to an a modified Wii, and that Nintendo does not offer support for this. I tried a reformat of the system from the Wii's system menu, but that still will not remove whatevers still there telling it that is has been modified.
How do I remove and restore (simple [dumb it down] instructions) my Wii back to original factory settings so I can run a system update?

Formatting will not fix it. What is installed that's not the normal Wii System Menu/IOSes?

Do not know, not sure how to access the whatever is installed. Was hoping there would be a simple solution. So if I can figure out what softmod was done, is there a way of removing it?
