what do you mean its broken?
whats wrong with it?
do you mean that a flash cart that you where using does not work anymore?
because if that's it then the dsi is not broken. when you do a data transfer it updated both systems.

By just making photos of the dsi itself, we can't really help. That's like making a photo of a car and say my car radio is broken. We need to see what the message is. Could you try taking out the SD card, and then power the dsi? And some photos of the message itself might also be helpful.

well, lets get this straight. you were dowloading the "3ds transfer tool" from the dsi shop, then "something" happened and now you can't access to the main menu and instead you get this error message
"An error has occurred. Press and hold the Power Button to turn the system off. Please see the Nintendo DSi Operations Manual for help troubleshooting."

So everytime you try to download the transfer tool, you get this error? Could you try without a SD Card if you use one?

This indeed means there is either a problem with:
1. SD Card
2. Your internet connection

3. Oh... and clean your DSi. My cleaning hunch comes up!

Press and hold the power button until the DSi turns off ?
Hard to say what happened ...

What's the odds for an app to corrupt the firmware?

I'm not 100% sure about the DSi but on the DSL you had the firmware on the WiFi board.

Try replacing the same board on your DSi.

I don't know, you should explain more thoroughly about what happened.

I remember when this happened to other people. the only work around is sending it to Nintendo for a fix.. you being in the Philippines might be a problem tho.

You should really try replacing the wifi module.

It's cheap and it's not a complicated task.

If the problem persists, then it's something else.
'Tips' like these are absolutely horrible imo. Not everyond has the ability/knowledge to replace hardware themself. And then saying if it didn't work, replace something else. Not everyone has the money to spend on stuff that may or may not work either.

He's asking for suggestions then it's up to him to decide what he's capable of doing.
Besides he's not the only and won't be the only one with this problem, so for the next person that is capable of disassembling things without breaking them,
this suggestion of mine might be something he or she might try out.

The cost of the module is a fracture of what the cost will be for sending it in to Nintendo.

I believe that persons looking for help online for their electronic devices, are ready to tinker with it themselves and hoping to learn something out of it.
Otherwise maybe they realize it's better to just sell the broken device and move on to the next one.

Yo buddy, I'd try doing a factory reset because it doesn't affect DSiWare Titles (If you have any) and if you take pictures, I'm pretty sure they're stored on the SD Card if you have one inserted.
