Help DS R4i Card dont start the game

Hey guys,

First of all sorry for my bad English.

I got the old R4i Card from the Nintendo DSi version Ver 1.4E.
my wife, she told me its not working more since years.
So i wanted to update it but i am not sure if i am in the righty way.
The flash card has also a 2GB Micro SD card inside and i put form linfox this software in the card

Initially, the card was not recognized by the Nintendo DSi.
after deleting the data on the card and trying another firmware software, the card was recognized but it was always a black screen. After a long search I found this Software

R4ds-i v1.27 English rar

with this software the card starts and I can see the menu:

R4 Revolution for DS v1.27 in the bottom picture and above is R4DSi SDHC English Version

I also see my games but I can't start them, nothing happens. and that's where i'm stuck right now

If you intend to update the console software, don't do it: besides being useless, it would block the use of your flashcard.

Hmm... really not worth using: if it is very old, it will have low compatibility, and won't read larger micro SD cards.
On eBay or Amazon you can find them for really low prices, and they have almost full compatibility (r4 Gold Pro, Ace3ds+, etc.).
I swear they cost so little that the sellers themselves are the ones paying you if you take them out of their way.

i already looked in ebay but here in germany they are not avaible on ebay. and i also dont know which card i should buy can you recommend me one ?

I recommend Ace3DSplus, which uses the Wood kernel. It is usually found in 200in1 or 400in1 or similar cartridges: here in Italy you can easily find them on eBay and Amazon.
The r4 Gold Pro is also very good, but as a kernel you will have to use YSMenu (which you will easily find on this site) to get around the infamous "timebomb": but the compatibility is slightly less than the previous one.

But it needs a firmware update.
W/o firmware update maximum "branded" kernel (maybe) is 1.9 as I understand.

* Update: Judging by the release dates of the kernels and firmwares it could be kernel versions ~1.4-1.5 even: fw V1.4.1 dated 2010-09-27, kernel 1.5 was released before this date, kernel 1.6 was released after this date)
Latest firmware update was NDSi V1.4.4. (left download section, names like "... download patch here")

So, plan is to backup (just in case) what is kinda like working atm,
copy 1.4->1.9 (* or 1.4->1.5) "branded" kernel to card (and check to see if it starts up),
download fw update V1.4.4 and try to update the firmware (hope the update is cumulative),
if the update was successful - copy kernel 2.6 to card (and check to see if it starts up).

Perhaps this will fix something.

Really thanks, i downloaded the 1.9 and it startet succsesfully

i tried the link, but i think he is not avaible more unfortunally, and how i do the update on the card ?

how do i know if was the update succesful. and the kernel 2.6 i just need to copy it to the card and not more.

hopefully this works, it seems like it. i just didnt find the fw update.

As I understand from the red notice on the website - "(Then you can use new firmware of v2.6 for playing more new games. if not, you can't use v2.6 firmware.)" - without the updated firmware the 2.6 kernel will not start (or work as intended, or anything else). If it does, maybe you already updated your cart in the past (long time ago)?

Update: By the way, write about how it all ended. It will be both interesting and useful (for further usage/science) to know result.

Alright, i did all step by step
the update was succesfull and all works well
but still when i want to start a game the Dsi tells me corrupted DS Program File and i cant start the game..

maybe i got some wrong ds game roms ?

If so, then you can try that kernel
