Good, lightweight music players?

OP
I like to listen to music while I'm doing work at school, and I tend to forget to bring my laptop charger with me, so my computer sometimes runs out of power before the end of the day due to the last few music players I've tried using up too much memory all the time. Does anyone know of any good, lightweight music players that have a decent shuffle function, allow Last.fm scrobbling and don't mess with the sound of my music?

Here's a list of the music players I've used so far and reasons as to why I've stopped using them:
  • Clementine: Horrible shuffle feature - would only randomly choose songs from one album, then went to the next album after going through all of one album's tracks, although I liked the rest of it
  • Amarok: I found that it ate through my battery, although I did really like it overall (minus the GUI, but that's not too important in a music player)
  • AIMP: Made most of my music sound really "empty" and somewhat compressed, if that description makes sense
  • MediaMonkey: I haven't dropped this one yet, I've only just started trying it out, good so far but I'm not sure if I'll keep it or not
They don't have to be Windows-exclusive (obviously, as I've tried both Clementine and Amarok) but it's fine if they are.

You being on Windows makes your options limited. There might be a cygwin version of cmus. You can always try foobar, which is fairly lightweight all things considered.

Looks like there's a way to compile cmus for cygwin, I'll try that. Thanks for the suggestion!

VLC. I've been using VLC all my life and it is nothing but perfect for me. Don't know about Last.fm. There is also MPC-HC but that's kinda for videos, but it can play music, just wouldn't recommend it.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.
