Hi, apologies in advance if this topic has already been covered, however I wanted to discover if the GBA has a reasonably loud running noise.

I recently purchased one and it has a loud power noise?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Does it sound like it's from the speaker or elsewhere?

You may need to open it up and inspect the capacitors for leaks.

There have been those that mentioned a high pitched noise, and also some fixes for it (need some solder but relatively minor in the grand scheme of things). Can also be something flash carts make worse. Have not got links to hand but it is a thing I have seen discussed (and fixed) around here before.

These machines are always noisy by nature.

It wasn't until the Nintendo DSi that sound was not driven by a analogic potentiometer for the level, and thus, no longer produced the characteristic hiss sound that would be influenced by the entire system's circuitry.

[Edit] Just to make it clear, I mean at the speaker/headphones output specifically.
If there is any noise that comes from somewhere else, it might be from a short, which could be a bad thing on the long run.
