Hacking Gateway emunand w/ classic mode enabled: Region Free retail carts?

From what I've been reading over the past two days, new retail carts support online play via the new emunand classic mode. My question is... will the 3DS recognize carts from other regions? I'm in Japan at the moment and am thinking about buying MH4 for online play. The only problem lies in the fact that my 3DS XL is a USA region model.

Classic Mode doesn't support region-free, sadly.

Throw them an email requesting it though, I need it too.

They will probably say it does but it won't arrive for a long time if it does at all.

Sure they seem to be making progress but it is not congruent with their progress reports.
