sorry if this is a question that's asked a lot, but this problem kept persisting for days already and I really need help.
I tried using wiiflow and usb loader gx (used rev921 and rev1180)
I think it may be my d2x cios being outdated but I'm honestly not sure. Thanks!

Sorry to piggy back off this but I am having just about the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I get to about 2% install and it fails. I've tried multiple hard drives and tried reformatting my wii and reinstalling

You're IOS's and cIOS's are outdated. It could help to update them. -- https://gbatemp.net/threads/guide-t...ftmod-fixes-most-compatibility-issues.394397/
You're versions of Wiiflow and USB Loader GX are both outdated.
  • Wiiflow - Download
  • USB Loader GX - Download - (scroll to the bottom for the newest version)

I only plan on installing Wii games to my harddrive and not doing anything with gamecube or virtual console games.

Please let me know if there's a better way to go about this or if I should post my syschek results
You can post your sysCheck or use the link above. The guide will let you know whether or not your softmod needs updating.

alright so I tried Uloader from the above video and it would just go to a black screen until I reset the wii. I just reformatted and will try to soft mod again for a third time. If anyone would be able to provide a step by step guide for a clean reformatted 4.3u Wii to be able to use ether USB Loader GX or a program like it, it would be greatly appreciated. Like I said, not really trying to play virtual console or gamecube games so I was hoping the install would be a bit easier but this hasn't been the case so far.

Thanks for the help

That Uloader video is over 5 years old. Use the link that I posted in the previous message to update your softmod. You don't need to reformat your Wii. When you update IOS's all you need to do is install over them with updated versions and it gets rid of the old one.

Also, make sure you're using an up to date version of USB Loader GX.

Thanks for the replies! I'll download modmii and update everything once I have access to a computer! I'll come back if my backup still freezes during installation.

I used your exact method and am still getting errors. When I tried to install the wads downloaded onto my SD card and through multi mod manager, it wouldnt take.

Is there an easier guide from a blank slate that get help me get my wii modded without all the patches?

Thanks
