The ongoing legal battle between Apple and Samsung had a sizable new development this morning when a German court granted Apple a preliminary injunction barring sales of Samsung's new tablet, the Galaxy Tab, throughout the European Union.

The device, which Apple claims infringes on various intellectual property rights and patents, was released earlier this year, but this setback could be critical for Samsung. Under German copyright law, Samsung could be fined up to $350,000 for each violation and company management could be imprisoned if infringement continues.

The ban is in effect for all countries within the European Union, including France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, Sweden, Italy and the U.K. The only country where the ban won't be imposed is the Netherlands.[/p]

Apple fails. This is a proof of their failure. They will try to ban every tab that surpasses their pads.

Wouldn't surprise me if the Galaxy Tab was the best selling tablet out there after the iPad (2).

I do wonder just which patents and intellectual properties they mean though...
It's a rectangle with a touch screen and has the label of "Tablet".

Apple's just a bunch of smug assholes.

I think it started with the Galaxy S / iPhone.
but how that implies to Galaxy Tab and iPad, god knows o.o.

@Satangel
With all the options available these days, probably yes. 2nd best selling in the list, still pretty low at sales lol.

for them i dont think paying tht much is a problem but the fact tht now they have to think of something new is a big big issue.

2. Samsung won't have any issues paying this fine (they are a HUGE company who not only focus on cellphones/tablets), but the problem is Apple won (for the time being) this thing and have handicapped their biggest competitor severely. It's a shame Apple has to resort to such stupid and low actions, even when they are already winning by a mile.

Just the tab, it the 10.1 aswell?

10.1 too I think.

@Wabsta: Check the Tweakers.net announcement, that contains more information.

Well done, Apple.

If you see the case (and its various details), it's blatant that Samsung ripped off Apple just to get a slice of the cake. Even the connector is a blatant rip-off!

C'mon guys, the mindless Apple bashing is SO last year. Just drop it

the legal drinking age here in the US is 21, as some of you may know, but i think either it should be 18 or the age you're an adult should be 21.
    +2
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also my reasoning for adult age being 21 is because the reason that's the drinking (and now smoking) age is because it "gives them more time to think rationally and not drive drunk"
so you should have that extra time to mature and think rationally before going to serve in the military or vote
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
tl;dr the "adult" age and the legal drinking age (and voting age) here in the US should be the same

It's all good no one pays attention to the law anyway lol
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What about making kids wait till 18 or 21 to drive? And yea is messed up, you can join army and die for your country at age 18, but you can't drink alcohol or smoke a cig til 21, is ridiculous

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
If someone is in the military they should be allowed to smoke and drink at 18.... Would help drive recruitment lol
