I'm an idiot, was impatient and tried to flash it using a homemade probe and no electric tape. I am going to go to a pawn shop and buy one (non-liteon) or buy one from a friend I flashed years ago. Should I throw out the old xbox? Wont turn on with the dvd drive plugged in.

Yeah if you can RGH it then you can have a very nice thing from it. If it is not banned you might be able to get it to the point where you can play XBLA and games on demand (plus the other stuff a networked 360 might do). A jasper RGH modded 360 is a nice thing indeed.
If you have the keys (doubtful if it is as you say and the only way you will get them now is RGH and at that point you might as well just that instead) you could program a new drive, and even without that you could possibly put another drive in and use it as a DVD player. I am not sure what you would have fried on the DVD drive but probably not a simple fuse or resistor or something you can just solder a new one in for.

Thanks, this is what I figured. I called up the shop I bought it from and they said they'd take it back anyway since it fell in a 7 day warranty period. I told him that I likely did the damage and that I opened it. He said he didn't care and to just not do it again. Will see what happens xD

Edit 1: They took it back, the manager said that they die all the time so it's no big deal and gave me cash back. Super cool dude.

    I'm mostly upgrading his hd, he has a 120gb in it now, lol, gonna give him a 2tb (1.5tb), not sure if he has it cfw or not, i haven't even turned it on yet. Ill mess w it tomorrow, I'm busy killing clowns right now.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, So old-skool.
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    Yea ps3HEN is fine, don't mess with what's not broken. The HEN version irc is for the super Slims, and CFW (evilnat) for other models
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, also what are the differences with ps3hen and evilnat?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
    They both basically do the same
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
    @BigOnYa ice cream cake is fucked either way

    @SylverReZ,
    @BigOnYa ok i read that the super slim model (the one i have) isnt compatible with cfw and that "HEN is the next best thing, it is a semi jailbreak applied on top of the OFW system software, it is geared towards console models that aren't CFW compatible, you can run homebrew, play backups but you cannot use customised system files & must reapply your customisations & HEN after every boot."
