So I downloaded and installed emudeck, added some bios and keys where needed, got roms in specific folders, and ran the installer that indeed downloaded covers and gave a nifty install cover in the steam deck software.

The thing is: for some reason only the old consoles seem to be buggy or slow.
Works (near). perfect: psx, Gamecube, wii, switch
Noticeable lag and crackling audio: gba, Gameboy, nes, snes
(note: haven't tested all types, for obvious reasons)

I found you can access the settings with R3 (the button on top of the right joystick)... But then the controls become touchscreen only for some reason.

Erm... Does anyone know how to solve this/set things better? For the steam deck, obviously. :)

Found it. Was pretty dumb on my behalf. I had set the default setting to 40 fps and similar refresh rate. Putting it back to 60 smoothed it out.

Hello :)

What bioses are needed ?
Where to put them?
Where to put the roms?

Is there a detailed tutorial of Emudeck?

Let's see.. I might miss some, but Playstation 1 and 2 need it, and iirc yuzu as well.

By default, the files are placed in /emulation/bios and /emulation/roms/<subfolder>

Following a YouTube guide to set it all up creates all the necessary subfolders (with just a 'place roms here' in the folders).

Whenever you add or remove roms to the folder, you run the program, let it preview and then save it. That way you get pictures for most games.

Once back in gaming mode, those roms appear in your 'non steam' library, and can be started with just a single click.

you can also just grab an retroarch/retropie bios pack and you should be fine
emulator/bios act just like the normal retroarch bios folder

also 3ds/wiiu/switch keys would be good if you want to tinker with those games (like installing cia on 3ds /installing wuds etc)
xemu needs also bios/hdimage to work
