Hey guys,

So I been thinking recently... I wonder if it is possible to dump a PSX BIOS from a PS2?

I have already been successful in dumping a PSX bios from a PSP using this method:
https://www.reddit.com/r/PSP/wiki/biosdump/#wiki_dump_the_playstation_1_bios_from_your_psp

My thoughts are now though, would it be possible to use this similar method to dump the inbuilt PS1 bios (from a PS2 phat) onto a PS1 memory card (similar to how it would be done on a PS1).
Perhaps using the TonyHax exploit?

I wonder if others have any thoughts?

I can confirm this was successful. I managed to successfully dump a PS1 Bios from a PS2, through utilising the Tony Hax exploit. If anyone was wanting to find a way to dump their own ps2 and ps1 bios, then (some) models of the PS2 are able to do this, and you don't have to buy a PS1 =D

Next, I will do similar from my PSP 2000, 3000 and PS Vita, to see if I have any variants and how they are like with PSX emulation...

I like how "PSX" has stuck as a term for the PS1 long after the actual PSX was released. The X where the community got that acronym from stood for "eXecutable" I believe.

Also downloaded that thing just because.

Hey, can you explain how you got the ps1 bios from the ps2 exactly ?
Is it possible with a ps2 slim with mechapwn ?

I have both slim and phat and dumped both ps2 bios from them with biosdrain.

btw. you can also extract a ps1 bios from the ps3 firmware
