Hacking DSi 1st charge time

Can some one tell me how long i should charge my dsi for the 1st time because this twat where i got it from said to charge it for 8 hours and mums like oh noes dont turn it off even though the LED is off.. can some body tell her that that twat was, wrong

Charge it till the light turns off. Then its fully charged and not charging anymore.

Isnt it obvious?

5 Hours. That's it. first initial charge.
