These games are what drag the DS down, sure ....there to get "women" and the older generation playing but i bet you anything that when they put this in there DS they think "is this the crap my son/daughter spends all there free time on? this fuckin sucks!!!"
....gardening game...something like harvest moon, maybe its not solely gardening but its a helluva lot better than this tripe and the huge following means it must be good right?
Huge following? Where? The cooking version of this app has sold almost 3 million worldwide and is in the top 30 for overall DS sales, the combined sales of all the Harvest Moon games on the DS barely scraps 2 million. So by using your logic, the cooking version of this app is better than the majority of other DS games? The huge following means it must be good right?
The truth is that the DS has the widest demographic of any system. Nintendo market the system to almost everyone, just look at the adverts. This week they're advertising the Layton Bundle as a fathers day gift. They use Patrick Stewart and Julie Walters to push Brain Training to the maturer market.
It appeals to men and women of all ages. My mother has one, my grandmother has one, my neighbours 3 year old has one. They wouldn't touch Harvest Moon, Guitar Hero or the majority of the other DS games with a "huge following", because it doesn't suit them. My mother likes the Cooking Guide because she thinks it's interesting, she also likes the idea that the DS doesn't just have games on it.
You say these games drag the DS down, but what you really mean is that they open the DS to a new (untapped) demographic which isn't you.

Even all those crappy "imagine" games they could have just put it all on one cart and be done with it, we dont need to have a seperate cart for everything a little girl would "imagine" enough already!!!!
On another note, why arent there "imagine" type games for the lads?
"Imagine: Drinking"
"imagine: Kebab"
"Imagine: Masturbaiting to porn"
Its only fair.
You haven't got the basic foundation of business yet have you.
Yes most of the Imagine series could be put on to one cart, but why sell one cart with all the games on for £39.99 when you could sell each one separately for £19.99? And they do sell, by the bucket load apparently.
As for Imagine games for "lads", their series is "Jim/Sam/Tim Power" from Ubisoft. The Imagine series has always been aimed at pre-teen girls.
