hi i got my steamdeck 3 days ago and am preparing to get a dock next month (or maybe my birthday depending on family) i found out you can use a windows to go setup (boot the actual OS of removable storage so steam OS is untouched) which got me thinking cana USB HDD be booted via the boot menu when attached to the dock? if so i have an 8tb waiting for windows

I believe that should be possible, yes. Haven't messed with it myself because SteamOS/Arch does everything I need, but I assume accessing BIOS allows for selecting boot drive just like it would with any other PC.

plus i learned holoiso works on the deck which is less restrictive and doesnt force on read only every steam os update (which is annoying for a power user like myself also no need for a USB drive to reinstall steam os 3 you can swap out sd cards and boot the recovery image off that via the bios the way valves faq sounds is actually wrong saying you need a USB-C drive/dock/adapter to reinstall steam OS
