I have my cousins switch here and got atmosphere and everything running but any time i try and launch a game it says "checking if software can be played....". i have the latest versions of hekate and atmosphere installed, i updated the sigpatches, Install the games using the exact same way i do with my own switch (awoo installer and NS loader). i tried installing NSZ files instead of NSPs and just seems to crash. i tried factory resetting the switch and reformatting the SD card and still no dice.

the switch is currently on 11.0.1. SD card is formatted to fat32, separate partition for emunand.

any ideas?

I've only seen it do that officially when a game isn't out yet or sometimes with nes/snes games. it did that to me when I updated both of them to December 2020. I'm not a switch expert though, but those are the times I've seen it do that legitimately.

It also does it if the console is a secondary switch- look it up. He proclably needs sigpatches.

I have updatedsig patches. As well factory resetting the switch so theresbohld be any account tied to it to make it the "secondary" switch.

Do you have an account linked on your user? if you dont there is a homebrew app that can do it whitnot connecting to the internet, but you will get banned and i cant remember the name of it.

Hey - im having the same problem with Mario + Rabbids where i keep getting the 'checking if software can be played' I update sigpatches to Totaljustices and have latest firmware.

Quite new to all this since i didnt originally mod my switch. I tried to look into NS-USBLOADER but i couldnt find any clean instructions on how to update this. Just saw the Github - https://github.com/developersu/ns-usbloader.

Can you point me to how to update updated NS-USBLOADER? i installed the game on awoo on my sd-card so not sure if still applies to me.

it's no worse than if you pirated
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
it's probably better, because not all keys on key sites are stolen

plus piracy is not always an option

i heard a related story for a dev actually

DRMs are getting stronger these days

they bought their own game on a key site and checked where they came from and it turned out they were review copies he had given out by email to someone
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    *all* of them
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
no storefront I'm aware of (at least on pc) requires the devs to pay for the keys they generate
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
they don't lose money doing this, even if someone decide to chargeback
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
so that seems to be a pretty common thing, i kinda blame the dev for that one though as they were giving out like 5 keys to someone just because they asked for multiple copies for review for whatever reason and there were multiple people doing this. he should've seen the red flags
