This is a quick tutorial on how to change the background when you are fighting. Works both in game and wifi battle, and works on console and citra.
I’m starting this tutorial assuming you already have an extracted game.
1: In the ExtractedRomFS folder, go to a/0/8/1
2: Launch Pk3DS, tools, (un)pack bclim and drag the garc « 1 » (Do not press ctrl)
Now you should have 168 dec_(number).bin. Those are the background battle. You can swap the .bins files how you want. (If this is what you wanted, go to step 5)
4: If you want to only swap the wifi background, you only need to swap the dec_014.bin with for example, dec_040.bin wich is an elite 4 room background (don’t remember wich one tho)
5: when you are done swapping, open pk3ds, tools, (un)pack bclim and drag the 1_g folder to the middle rectangle. A popup box will show up, press yes then wait a couple minute.
6: On your sd, create the patchs folder.
Ultra sun: SD:/luma/titles/00040000001B5000/romfs/a/0/8 and drag the 1_g.garc in the 8 folder, and rename the 1_g.garc to 1
Ultra Moon: SD:/luma/titles/00040000001B5100/romfs/a/0/8 and drag the 1_g.garc in the 8 folder and rename the 1_g.garc to 1
7: eject your sd, enable game patching in the luma configuration menu, and there you go ! You now have customized background that work online and ingame !
You can edit the background textures in ohana also. just drag a dec_(number).bin again in the (un)pack bclim option in pk3ds, you will get a folder. Just view the 00.bin file and do your stuff. Then import the modded file in the 00.bin, drag folder containing the 00 to 29.bin in the middle rectangle (again same option of pk3ds), rename it to .bin and repack the garc and patch again.
P-S: I might do a textfile containing the locations of each background in the game. Any help is appreciated tho (or if anyone want to do it it’s fine)
Second P-S: I don’t know if this can get you banned from the Nintendo Network so be careful (I’m not responsible for anything that could happen to your hardware or game)
I want to give credits to AngelOfTheNight for being the first (with a collegue named retrosol) to be the first person to achieve that (check out their youtube channels they are cool)
Credits to KazoWAR who apparently helped out these two guys to achieve the thing
