Gaming Cannot detect External HDD

My external HDD I've been using with my laptop was working fine but today when I installed Vista Ultimate on it the HDD wont come up in my computer when I plug it in.
I've tried on other pc's and it has worked (they have xp on them)
Oh and it's a LaCie.

Any ideas?

Did you install the chipset drivers? Usually, Vista or XP will install generic USB drivers if you don't install the chipset drivers, but it could be that since it's a laptop it might have used the incorrect drivers. Give more information about the laptop. What kind/model is it? Is it updated to SP1?

It's a Samsung Sens R410 and it's sp1.

They haven't updated their site with this model at all. The laptop should have come with drivers though. Did you install those after upgrading to Ultimate?

Hm.. On a whim I just tried switching usb cables and it worked :/
