ROM Hack Can someone explain Trainers to me?

Hi, I want to use an Action Replay code for some of my games on my EZ4. I heard that these things called "trainers" are applied to the ROM of the game and you can activate/deactivate the cheats your put on your ROM through a trainer. I have no idea how to use these trainers, but I heard that GBAATM is the best program for putting trainers on a game. I want to get the following code for the Mother 3 debug room on a trainer for the ROM, but I have no clue how to do it. Can someone explain it to me? Thanks in advance.
