is there a way i can get map pack3 for free on my ps3? i got it from a freind on my old ps3 so if i can download it for free can i extract it from my old ps3?

I'm not so sure it works that way.
I don't think you can copy it to your USB, but if your friend downloaded it to your old PS3, you can try to transfer it to the new one, although, it'll erase everything on it.

Or, I also heard that if you use flash memory, it can act as more "RAM" at least windows tell me when I stick a flash drive into it. -
