My family is buying a car soon. We are looking at 2003 BMW 5 series, 2004 Infinity G35 or the 2004 Audi A6. Please do not suggest any other cars. All cars are fully loaded with features and all. My parents do not want an extremely powerful car. They want a smooth ride, comfort and what not. What would be the best choice?

In today's day and age, which ever gets the best gas mileage.

Indeed. I'm not too picky about what I'll recieve, really (grandma's old Ford Taurus

).

If it gets you from A to B, if you get a car with decent gas mileage and doesn't need to be serviced very often, you'll be good.

But, if I had a choice - it'd be the Audi.
Never seen a better looking car than my friends Audi (in real life, of course).

As nice as that brand new car is, you usually have the least amount of depriciation in cars if you buy a 4-5 year old car. My uncle bought a brand new 2004 Maxima back in 2003 for about $47,000 with all options, now you can buy one for about $18,000 with all options. Also, please read my post, my dad will not consider any other cars.

For me it would be between the Audi and the BMW. I've been considering getting a BMW 5 series recently although the one I have been looking at is an automatic which is seriously putting me off. Dunno what Audi is like, but BMWs apparently have pretty high maintenance costs.

What I am most worried about is the insurance cost. We used to pay $150 a month for a 2000 4 door Honda Accord. I've heard that the more expensive a car is, the more expensive insurance is.

I bought my E64 new, almost 3 years ago, I have it serviced annually by an independent BMW specialist, and it has not set me back any more than any other car I have ever owned, in the 20 years that I've been driving ... never had a moment's trouble with it, either.

I believe the 5 series is a E60 or E61. Won't know about the service plans until monday...
