On Bruteforce 4.7.4, trying to decrypt chao garden save data for Sonic Adventure 2. However, when I pull it up, the save says "Undecryptable".

Decrypt is greyed out. Verify PFD says Console ID Hash FAILED, despite me copying this straight from my PS3. Is there something wrong with saves from a CFW PS3? I am able to use the save to set my profile in BSD.

it's part of evilnat 4.88. it's in the cfw settings/tools over the network tier. enable it, run the game save, then exit, grab the settings log from the tmp folder. it should contain the save key.

Ok, I'm still on Ferrox. Didn't know evilnat was a thing. I guess I'll work on installing that CFW

I don't think you need to bruteforce anything anymore actually. though, I've never used secure file id dumper. I don't mess with saves really at all, just know of the dumper. you've gotta access a save afaik when you boot up the game to get the key dumped.

Turned it on, entered the chao garden, exited. The logging was enabled before I did so. I see cfw_settings.log but clicking it does nothing and pressing ^ to check the options only lets me delete, not copy.

copy it to your pc.
Ok, didn't feel like setting up FTP due to other responsibilities. I found the file in the dump tool, displayed, and snapped an image of its contents.

I know you don't mess with saves, but gonna ask for others who read: What do I do with the secure file id to get the save decrypted?

Ok, Secure File ID for both the main game and the chao save (2 separate saves) are listed in the log as all Fs. I know it's possible, but it's highly unlikely.

Apollo's decryption worked. Whatever was going on with the secure file ids in the other encryption attempts, I guess Apollo just used what the PS3 already recognized, being on the PS3 itself. That's my hypothesis.

Hey mate, did you ever get to the bottom of this? Been trying for a few days to get my file working properly. Would be amazing if you can get in touch :)

That Dell data breach is worse than people probably realize....
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
When I worked for Dell we had access to data about military contracts and addresses for high ranking people.

I personally handled a call from the second highest person at Raytheon. That call bothered me a lot... The guy was nice and smart what bothered me was the way management basically just blew him off instead of going the extra mile to help him.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
In the end that call ended up costing Dell millions in lost contracts with Raytheon, and really the issue could have been solved for like 450 bucks lol

sometimes I wonder why anyone would ever buy mega man x legacy collection 2
  • NinStar @ NinStar:
I always thought that capcom shuffled the games in these collection, but apparently they are all in chronological order, which makes legacy collection 2 worthless
