Homebrew Any possibility of getting into DS mode with the homebrew launcher?

I ask mainly for the sake of curiosity since the DS has a far more vast selection of homebrew compared to what is currently on the 3DS, I'm wondering if it would theoretically be possible to utilize DS mode through this method and run homebrew originally made for the DS or is that not possible without kernel access?

With a flashcart, I assume that's easy.
With the HBl, I doubt it.

I take it the only reliable way to get DS homebrew onto the HBl is for them to have been compiled specifically for the 3DS.

There is a repo containing scrip to convert payload to audio. Apparently smea didn't had time/knowledge to make on homebrew launcher or the payload has limit access/size limit.
