It is plugged in Port 0, right? HBC can still read homebrews from it if it was plugged in port 1.i followed every step and installed all the wads the hard drive is recognised by the HBC and the HBS and i installed all the usb loaders modmii gave me to my hard drive and they run from the hard drive but still cant be initialized
its in port 0 and its the 4th drive ive tried today one has worked in the pastIt is plugged in Port 0, right? HBC can still read homebrews from it if it was plugged in port 1.
I think it might be the compatibility issue. Do you have any spare drives to test with, which you can confirm that it's working on another Wii?
You really don't have to.i have a better wii that i didnt want to mod but im going to try on that one and see how if the same thing happens
they are all 1tb external hard drives the big boys they are all fat 32 i dont know anything about partitions.Just because u tried 4 drives doesn't mean it's not a compatibility issue.
Are they all small thumb drives? These are notorious for poor compatibility. If this is all you have you could try formatting as wbfs instead of fat32, you lose a lot of benefits but it does improve compatibility with thumb drives.
Also, try all 3 different usb loaders.
The HDD that u say worked in the past, what cios249 did u have installed when it was working? Generally what u have now is ideal, but if your hdd isn't being read, perhaps a different primary cios would improve compatibility for this particular HDD.
my recommendation: only d2xthey are all 1tb external hard drives the big boys they are all fat 32 i dont know anything about partitions.
i tried all 3 usb loaders none all start none see the drive.
no idea what cios worked in the past sorry.
any suggestions on what cios combo might work?
my recommendation: only d2x
I’m trying the second wii today I’ll see if that one works I think I might have done something to the USB ports years ago when I first modded it with the most sketchy guidehmmm im now guessing that the usb ports may be faulty on theat wii
my recommendation is to use wii.guideI’m trying the second wii today I’ll see if that one works I think I might have done something to the USB ports years ago when I first modded it with the most sketchy guide
I might try this on the busted wii but the second one is working perfectly so far but the first wii did too at first and then stopped reading the hard drive on day two but so far so good I’ll put a few games on it and see if it still works tomorrow thanks everyone for your help much appreciatedHave you tried a Y-USB cable on your external hard drive? A single USB port can't feed an energy hungry drive.
I've had many issues with my external hard drive until I made my Y-USB cable, now it works perfectly.
I’ll definitely do this but what’s the problem with using the wii to power it? And what’s a good chord to get?I've always used a hdd that plugs into the wall for power. If I had a hdd that didn't do that then I would use a powered usb hub to supply the power. I would never rely on my Wii to power a hdd with a spinning disc.
