I just found this AC/DC Adaptor from MadCatz - officially for use with original (unmodded) Game Boy Pockets and Game Boy Colors - and i was asking myself: Can i safley use this Adaptor with ANY backlit modded GBP/GBC unit, without the risk of blowing it up?

I own 3 modded GBP/GBC systems (all original, no clones). I bought them already modded, so i don't know what components/cases/screens/parts were used. Is it save to use them with the AC/DC Adaptor?

If i can use it, maybe the compatiblity with the EZ Flash Jr. will be better, as if i would using batteries.

You need to find out the power usage of the modded gameboy. If it exceeds 400mah then don't use it ;)

You're probably fine with an universal power adapter on 3 volt, because they can output 1000 mAh and some can output 2000 mAh.

So if you really want to use one, I'll pick an universal power adapter.

How on earth can i do this?

If it exceeds 400mah then don't use it

lf this is the case, will the system just not, work or will it take damage?

If i just think about it... i'll guess a modded Game Boy with a backlight, sould generally need more power that a system without backlight, right?

I watched a lot of videos from Makho on YouTube. He often shows how much the power consumption of a screen is.
Maybe you should check some of vids to see if your screen is in his videos.

It's mA, not mAh.
"Ah" is a unit for "energy capacity".
"A" is the unit for current, in this case the maximum current the power adapter is capable to safely deliver steadily.

How to check consumption?
Using a multimeter.

Will the system not work?
There are several possibilities:
- The device will refuse to turn on.
- The device will work but be unstable (unprobable)
- The power supply will try to deliver more current than it can deliver and heat up, maybe blow a fuse and break.

Anyway, according to videos I've seen, maximum current for a modded GBC is around 100mA, so you shouldn't have any problem.

Thanks. To keep it simple: If i give it a try, and use the AC/DC Adpater on the picture above: Can it damage, break or blow up one of my modded GBP's or GBC's?

If it is in good condition, it shouldn't.
If you don't know, then it's possible (though improbable)
