    Original DS shell replacement?

So, a while ago I bought a DS (the original one) with a broken hinge, my intention was to restore it to new conditions by buying a new shell. Over the years I've happened to notice that DS shells were widely available on Aliexpress, but now it seems that they're nowhere to be found. Do you think...

    VGA to HDMI: mono audio

Weird, it's gone now, I can confirm. I had it cached on my browser so I could make some screenshot and save some product pictures. I can post them if you're interested. (nevermind, the problem was solved) 1667041961 Well, you solved the problem, many thanks. I was using an HDMI port, which...

The SEGA Genesis Mini 2 will be released in the west this October

There is no shortage of Mega Drive minis 2 at MSRP on Amazon (in fact, I predict that they'll put it on sale in a couple of months), yet people is scalping it on ebay for a 50% markup nonetheless.

    VGA to HDMI: mono audio

I'm using a PS2 component cable, and the audio RCAs are connected to a Y cable that ends with a 3,5 stereo plug, and I did test the whole cable, including the Y extension. I tried to wiggle and rotate but nothing happens, the audio is always on the left only. I did try a different cable, but...

    VGA to HDMI: mono audio

I finally finished my GBS Control, it seems to work but as soon as I tried the headphones I noticed a problem: I can hear only the left channel. In order to troubleshoot the audio, I connected the Playstation2 output directly to an audio receiver and it works fine on both sides. So, the audio...

Gaming GBS Control, anyone built one? I did recently and think it is worth it.

Hi, sorry if I bother you again, but I need an advice on the project. I finished the GBS and it works... for a while, then the WiFi board's blue LED turns off and I get a black screen. the red led of the GBS stays on, it's just the WiFi board that turns off. The WiFi board is connected to the...

PS5 Hackable Models FW 4.03 and below

Mine is the first model (the one with the heavy radiator), but since it's my only console I keep it updated, I don't think it's hackable (is it?)

First gaming experience on a retro console?

I think it was the Sega Saturn I bought 8 years ago, I modded it to hell and back but I didn't play it as much as I would have liked because of the wonky laser (I also bought the original steering wheel). Don't get me wrong, I play since the 1990s and I started with a Commodore 64, but it...

Gaming GBS Control, anyone built one? I did recently and think it is worth it.

I can, but beware that the big "GBS control" writing on the side isn't easy to print, it will likely come out deformed, this is how mine came out: In order to correct the mistake, the guy that printed it made a plaque with the correct writing and applied it on top of it. Also, not everything...

Gaming GBS Control, anyone built one? I did recently and think it is worth it.

We got the almost same idea! Here's my GBS with the same 3D printed case (but I modified it) of a very similar colour (mine it's still unfinished): The resistor on a switch is the 100 Ohm one to put between ground and sync when you're using the RGB SCART input, right?

How the heck do you plan to get 240/480p from original hard... Oh, that's how. Well, in this case a Wii + scaler is a bit redundant. A Rasperry Pi or an old mini PC you could have laying already outputs HDMI, you don't need any scaler for that.

Phil Spencer wants to bring back dormant Activision IP, plans to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation

It really baffles me to see the amount of goodwill many commenters are giving to Microsoft. It's Microsoft we're talking about: as mrjelly wrote above, it will be rich if they put old Activision games on the gamepass and do some remasters. These flights of imagination many of you are making are...

Phil Spencer wants to bring back dormant Activision IP, plans to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation

"I confirmed our intent to honor all existing agreements upon acquisition of Activision Blizzard" This part means that, but then he added: "and our desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation." Sure, we can debate about what "desire" actually entails, but I won't say that he literally said...

Phil Spencer wants to bring back dormant Activision IP, plans to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation

We'll see... How about making good, desirable games to compete with the ones lost? Let's leave the acquisitions to those who can't.

Microsoft to acquire Activision Blizzard in record-setting $68.7 billion deal

Tencent is investing in PlatinumGames so that the developer can afford to self-publish its own games

Sure, and Unreal Engine is niche stuff that's definitely not the industry standard. What? In this case Timmy is the one that has to pay, he's not the one taking the cut. When you're buying something you can't decide how much will you pay. It's only when you're selling that you can make the...

Microsoft to acquire Activision Blizzard in record-setting $68.7 billion deal

Better to innovate and fail than to stay stagnant (since we're talking about Microsoft, they're the perfect example: franchises that have gone stale due to lack of innovation and 2 whole generations with the same controller). Business as usual for them: they did this on the PC software side...

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
