Mophie's new power brick pushes the limits of portability.

Having portable power is important. Whether you're keeping your lifeline--your phone--charged up while you're out, or you find yourself needing to plug something in while you're away from home, portable chargers have come in clutch many a time. Mophie has decided to take that concept and run with it, trying to merge portable on-the-go charging with fully-featured AC output.

Mophie has managed to pack a 27,000mAh battery inside the Powerstation Pro AC. That's pretty sizable for something that's billed as a "portable" power bank. Of course, having that kind of battery capacity makes the Powerstation Pro hefty. At over 2.5lbs, it's not something you can just slip into your pocket and take with you. Even if you have a backpack or shoulder bag, you're still going to notice its weight. As far as 27k mAh batteries go, there's definitely smaller ones out there, but the Mophie has something up its sleeve.

Next to the USB ports is a three-prong AC port, which is where the Powerstation sets itself apart. If you so needed to, you could carry with you a device that is capable of charging laptops that don't run on USB-C, or in my case, something that allows me to charge up my e-bike's battery, to give it some extra juice during a long ride. It's also nifty for when you need to power a lower voltage device for a short while, but you can't reach it with an extension cord; a smaller vacuum for cars, an induction cooktop for use outside, and more. Plus, it comes with surge protection.

Having something like this is a nice compromise if you find yourself running into instances where you'd want a traditional plug, without investing into a portable power station. Whether you're charging smartphones, tablets, laptops, or other small electronics, this power bank has you covered.

Beyond the AC port, the Powerstation Pro AC offers efficient charging with its support for fast charging technologies, including USB Power Delivery and Quick Charge. This ensures that your devices charge up quickly, saving you time. The power bank also features pass-through charging, enabling you to charge the power bank while simultaneously charging your devices, an extra bonus.

The Mophie Powerstation Pro AC is a reliable and versatile power bank that combines durability, ample battery capacity, and various charging options. Its design and water/dust resistance make it an excellent companion for outdoor enthusiasts and those who frequently find themselves needing to charge things up when they're away from home. With its support for fast charging technologies, multiple device compatibility, and an AC outlet, this power bank offers a comprehensive charging solution for all your power-hungry devices. Regardless of if you're on a camping trip, traveling, or facing a power outage, the Powerstation Pro AC has the power to keep your devices going.

Verdict

Overall

An incredible powerbank, with a bit of an incredible price tag, but if having this kind of power on the go is useful to you, it's definitely worth it.
The addition of the AC port unfortunately makes this country-specific, as I highly doubt Mophie's gonna make different versions for all the different port prong designs.
So...yeah, sucks for the vast majority of us who don't use that port shape, unless we suddenly start carrying bloody adapters around for no reason.

That should really be a negative, I feel - country-specific port is utter trash. People don't like region-locking in tech, and this is essentially physical region-locking.
