People adding noai tags is actually genius, it gives them more of a legal basis against AI art

Yeah, for public hosted tools that have to abide by any laws. Doesn't stop anyone from downloading the open source software and just removing the filter though.

Yeah, but people will have even more legal trouble using/releasing the model trained on noai art

You can (maybe) get away with uploading pieces made with the model, but good luck releasing the model itself in any capacity

also, dismissing noai tags like that is like dismissing robots.txt, sure people can ignore it, but if you get caught, you're heavily scrutinized for it

Right, in any case I'm focusing on damage done through the use of these tools, and so they would be used anonymously anyway. I don't see a tag stopping someone from creating fake images of somebody they despise and uploading it online somewhere. The tools are all open source and available, even older versions without these protections.

Perhaps in the art world if someone is trying to make money from stealing other artist's work then yes, those tags have a use.
